Hi, I’m Stephen Waples and together with my wife Bec, and four young kids,

We are SB Rural.

Having grown up at the bottom of the South Island of New Zealand, I set out on the great Aussie adventure and along the way, met my beautiful wife in WA. After a whirlwind romance and marriage, we journeyed across Australia, eventually settling in NSW. There, we worked for a number of great companies and private landholders, overseeing and managing mixed farming properties.

In 2024, we took the leap and started our own venture, with one trailer, a small team of dogs, a few tools in our belt, and a dream to serve our community.

Now, with three trailers rolling, we’re busier than ever and it’s all thanks to the families who trust us with their butchering and contracting needs. We’re proud to be helping more locals than ever put homegrown meat on the table and care for their properties and livestock.

As grocery prices keep climbing and local abattoirs make private kills harder and costlier, we’re in a unique position to help people enjoy their own homegrown meat, with a convenient, on-farm, hassle-free process that keeps more value in your hands.

We’re grateful to be part of this community and thankful for the warm welcome we’ve received. It’s a privilege to do what we do, and we look forward to meeting more of you along the way.
